What we see in Dorset

Architectural Joinery in Dorset is rarely a catalogue job. You will find mostly Purbeck stone cottages, Victorian resort villas and thatched inland villages in this area, and it moves as it ages. Set against exposed Channel coast with intense salt and UV load, most joinery here eventually shows rapid finish failure and fixings corrosion within a few seasons on seafront stock. The value is in one-off items worked from a drawing set rather than a catalogue, not in the timber bill.

We would rather spend an hour surveying than a week correcting. Give us the basics and you will have a written figure, not a range that moves later.

Worth knowing locally: Jurassic Coast properties need stainless fixings as standard, not an upgrade.

Dorset questions

Do you cover Dorset?

Yes. We cover the whole of Dorset including Bournemouth, Poole, Weymouth, Dorchester and the surrounding villages. Jurassic Coast properties need stainless fixings as standard, not an upgrade. Because exposed Channel coast with intense salt and UV load, we allow for it at survey stage rather than discovering it on the day.

What guarantee do you provide?

Ten years on workmanship, covering manufacture and the factory-applied finish. Where we install, the installation is covered too. It is issued in writing with the handover paperwork.

How long does a typical order take?

Most made-to-size orders run six to ten weeks from survey to delivery. Conservation and heavily detailed work can take longer, and we confirm the lead time in writing at quotation rather than leaving it open.

How do you handle glazing?

Standard double glazed units for most work, and slim-cavity units where a conservation officer has restricted sightlines. Single glazing with putty lines is available where the consent requires it.

Is the timber certified?

All our stock is FSC certified and chain-of-custody documentation is supplied with the order, which most main contractors and specifiers now require for their records.

Can you price from drawings?

Yes. Send a drawing set or a schedule and we will price against it. If anything is ambiguous we will query it before quoting rather than assume and reprice later.
