What we do and how we do it
The Purpose-Made Joinery we make for the UK is set out from a survey, not a size chart. Most of what we survey locally is a mix of period and modern stock, which is not built to any modern module. Then there is the full range of UK exposure conditions, which reliably produces coating failure followed by rot at the joints given enough seasons. This is really a job about the awkward items no stockist carries, made to your exact sizes.
The site visit comes first, because assumptions made in an office get paid for on site. Send us sizes and a photograph and we will come back with a fixed written price.

Frequently asked questions
Is the timber certified?
All our stock is FSC certified and chain-of-custody documentation is supplied with the order, which most main contractors and specifiers now require for their records.
Do you take a deposit?
Not before the measured survey. A deposit is only requested once the survey is complete and you have approved the final schedule and price.
Will the finish need maintaining?
A factory-applied microporous finish typically needs inspection every three to five years, sooner on exposed coastal elevations. Maintaining it is far cheaper than letting a coating fail and the timber take up water.
What if the opening is out of square?
Most older openings are. The survey records the actual dimensions at several points and the unit is manufactured to suit, which is the main reason we survey rather than work from the sizes given over the phone.
Can you match an existing profile?
Yes. If you can supply a section, a photograph with a rule in shot, or an old unit, we can replicate the profile. For conservation work this is usually the condition the planning officer will apply.
What guarantee do you provide?
Ten years on workmanship, covering manufacture and the factory-applied finish. Where we install, the installation is covered too. It is issued in writing with the handover paperwork.
How do you handle glazing?
Standard double glazed units for most work, and slim-cavity units where a conservation officer has restricted sightlines. Single glazing with putty lines is available where the consent requires it.
