Contract joinery in Maldon
Most Commercial Door Sets enquiries we take in Maldon start with an opening that is not a standard size. Given the estuary bungalows, 1930s ribbon development and timber-framed village stock that dominates locally, standard sizes are the exception not the rule. With the driest climate in the UK with sharp summer heat in the mix, shrinkage cracking and glazing bead failure from repeated drying cycles is a question of when rather than whether. Everything we do here comes back to certified door sets supplied complete with frame and ironmongery prep.
The measuring is done by the people responsible for the fit, which concentrates the mind. Tell us what you are working with and we will put a fixed figure in writing.
Bear in mind for this area: low rainfall shifts the risk from rot toward movement and seal failure.

Verified client, EssexMaldon questions
Do you work in hardwood or softwood?
Both. Engineered hardwood is the default where movement or exposure is a concern, and slow-grown softwood is often the better value choice for painted work in sheltered positions. We will tell you which we would specify and why.
Do you take a deposit?
Not before the measured survey. A deposit is only requested once the survey is complete and you have approved the final schedule and price.
Can you price from drawings?
Yes. Send a drawing set or a schedule and we will price against it. If anything is ambiguous we will query it before quoting rather than assume and reprice later.
Is the timber certified?
All our stock is FSC certified and chain-of-custody documentation is supplied with the order, which most main contractors and specifiers now require for their records.
How do you handle glazing?
Standard double glazed units for most work, and slim-cavity units where a conservation officer has restricted sightlines. Single glazing with putty lines is available where the consent requires it.
