Contract joinery in Oxford

If you are looking at Architectural Joinery in Oxford, the timber is only half the decision. Given the Cotswold stone cottages, Georgian college-town terraces and new-build fringe estates that dominates locally, standard sizes are the exception not the rule. river-valley mist and prolonged autumn damp sets the pace of decay, and rot behind stone reveals where water tracks in at the joint is how it shows up first. What you are paying for is one-off items worked from a drawing set rather than a catalogue.

Nothing goes into manufacture until a surveyor has checked each opening on site. Tell us what you are working with and we will put a fixed figure in writing.

A detail specific to this area: listed and curtilage-listed properties are unusually common in the historic centres.

Oxford questions

Do you take a deposit?

Not before the measured survey. A deposit is only requested once the survey is complete and you have approved the final schedule and price.

Can you match an existing profile?

Yes. If you can supply a section, a photograph with a rule in shot, or an old unit, we can replicate the profile. For conservation work this is usually the condition the planning officer will apply.

Can you price from drawings?

Yes. Send a drawing set or a schedule and we will price against it. If anything is ambiguous we will query it before quoting rather than assume and reprice later.

Can you work on a listed building?

Yes, and a significant share of our work is listed or conservation area. We can supply drawings and section details to support a listed building consent or planning application, though the consent itself remains the owner's responsibility.

Is the timber certified?

All our stock is FSC certified and chain-of-custody documentation is supplied with the order, which most main contractors and specifiers now require for their records.
