Contract joinery in Newcastle upon Tyne

The hard part of Architectural Joinery in Newcastle upon Tyne is not the making, it is the measuring. Property here runs to Tyneside flats, Georgian Grainger Town frontages and coastal terraces, and each of those brings its own set of dimensions. What accelerates it is cold North Sea exposure with high sustained wind, and wind-driven rain penetration and rapid coating loss on seaward elevations follows sooner than owners expect. What you are paying for is one-off items worked from a drawing set rather than a catalogue.

We check on site before committing anything to the saw, and we query what does not add up. Rough dimensions and a couple of photographs are enough for us to price it properly.

One thing that catches people out here: Tyneside flat stock has a distinctive paired-door detail worth replicating exactly.

Newcastle upon Tyne questions

Will the finish need maintaining?

A factory-applied microporous finish typically needs inspection every three to five years, sooner on exposed coastal elevations. Maintaining it is far cheaper than letting a coating fail and the timber take up water.

Can you work on a listed building?

Yes, and a significant share of our work is listed or conservation area. We can supply drawings and section details to support a listed building consent or planning application, though the consent itself remains the owner's responsibility.

What guarantee do you provide?

Ten years on workmanship, covering manufacture and the factory-applied finish. Where we install, the installation is covered too. It is issued in writing with the handover paperwork.

Is the timber certified?

All our stock is FSC certified and chain-of-custody documentation is supplied with the order, which most main contractors and specifiers now require for their records.

Do you work in hardwood or softwood?

Both. Engineered hardwood is the default where movement or exposure is a concern, and slow-grown softwood is often the better value choice for painted work in sheltered positions. We will tell you which we would specify and why.
