Contract joinery in Southam

Half the Contract Joinery Packages problems we fix in Southam started as a sizing assumption. With half-timbered Tudor frontages, Regency spa terraces and canal-side workshops making up much of the area, off-the-shelf sizes rarely line up. Set against inland continental swings between hard frost and summer heat, most joinery here eventually shows seasonal movement opening mortice-and-tenon joints on historic frames. Everything we do here comes back to packages priced against a bill and delivered to the date on the programme.

The site visit comes first, because assumptions made in an office get paid for on site. Tell us the problem rather than the solution and we will advise on both.

A detail specific to this area: genuine timber-framed buildings need scribed repair rather than unit replacement.

Southam questions

Is the timber certified?

All our stock is FSC certified and chain-of-custody documentation is supplied with the order, which most main contractors and specifiers now require for their records.

Can you match an existing profile?

Yes. If you can supply a section, a photograph with a rule in shot, or an old unit, we can replicate the profile. For conservation work this is usually the condition the planning officer will apply.

Do you work in hardwood or softwood?

Both. Engineered hardwood is the default where movement or exposure is a concern, and slow-grown softwood is often the better value choice for painted work in sheltered positions. We will tell you which we would specify and why.

How long does a typical order take?

Most made-to-size orders run six to ten weeks from survey to delivery. Conservation and heavily detailed work can take longer, and we confirm the lead time in writing at quotation rather than leaving it open.

What if the opening is out of square?

Most older openings are. The survey records the actual dimensions at several points and the unit is manufactured to suit, which is the main reason we survey rather than work from the sizes given over the phone.
